Frequently Asked Questions
Is it better to use a vented cap or a sealed cap for a cell culture flask?
The vented cap contains a hydrophobic membrane that allows free gas exchange while maintaining a sterile state, and is suitable for standard CO₂ incubator environments. The sealed cap is suitable for special conditions such as transportation and low-oxygen culture to prevent contamination and liquid leakage. Most experiments recommend using a vented cap culture bottle with a culture bottle sealing film or sterile operating table.
What is the difference between TC-treated and non-treated culture flask surfaces?
The vented cap contains a hydrophobic membrane that allows free gas exchange while maintaining a sterile state, and is suitable for standard CO₂ incubator environments. The sealed cap is suitable for special conditions such as transportation and low-oxygen culture to prevent contamination and liquid leakage. Most experiments recommend using a vented cap culture bottle with a culture bottle sealing film or sterile operating table.
Can it be used to culture adherent and suspension cells at the same time?
The vented cap contains a hydrophobic membrane that allows free gas exchange while maintaining a sterile state, and is suitable for standard CO₂ incubator environments. The sealed cap is suitable for special conditions such as transportation and low-oxygen culture to prevent contamination and liquid leakage. Most experiments recommend using a vented cap culture bottle with a culture bottle sealing film or sterile operating table.
What is the difference between a plastic erlenmeyer flask and a cell culture flask?
Cell culture erlenmeyer flask are suitable for dynamic culture, mainly used for the oscillation growth of microorganisms and suspended cells in a shaker; cell culture flasks are mostly used for static culture of adherent cells. The design, use environment and gas exchange requirements of the two are completely different.
Can erlenmeyer flasks be autoclaved?
Yes, the PC model can be autoclaved at 121°C. PET and PETG materials cannot be processed at high temperatures and are only suitable for disposable aseptic operation scenarios. Please confirm the material type and sterilization method before choosing.
How to removing solid chemicals from a reagent bottle?
- Wear protective equipment: Wear laboratory gloves, goggles and white coats first to ensure safety protection.
- Check labels and seals: Confirm the name and expiration date of the reagent. When opening the bottle cap, keep the bottle mouth clean and avoid touching the inner wall with hands or other objects.
- Use a dry medicine spoon or medicine spoon: Use clean and dry tools to remove the required dose from the bottle to avoid moisture or water from entering the reagent bottle.
Handle gently to prevent flying: remove carefully as close to the bottle mouth as possible to avoid dust or particles flying, and operate in a fume hood if necessary.
Close the bottle cap immediately after use: avoid moisture, moisture absorption or cross contamination, especially for hygroscopic or highly oxidizing chemicals.
Weighing and transfer: transfer solids to weighing paper, beaker or weighing container for weighing or experimental use.
Are erlenmeyer flasks suitable for culturing adherent cells?
Mainly suitable for suspension culture systems. If adherent culture is required, please choose cell culture flasks or treated culture dishes.
What is the difference between PET and PETG cell culture media bottles?
PETG blood culture media bottles are more suitable for life science and high-end experimental purposes, such as filling and storage of cell culture media, vaccine intermediates, and IVD reagents. They have higher transparency, better drop resistance, and stronger biocompatibility. If it is only for short-term storage of non-sensitive liquids at room temperature, such as PBS, alcohol, or buffer, PET serum bottles are more cost-effective, but they are not recommended for long-term freezing or in high-requirement sterile environments.
Is there a volume scale on the sterile square media bottle? Is it accurate?
PETG blood culture media bottles are more suitable for life science and high-end experimental purposes, such as filling and storage of cell culture media, vaccine intermediates, and IVD reagents. They have higher transparency, better drop resistance, and stronger biocompatibility. If it is only for short-term storage of non-sensitive liquids at room temperature, such as PBS, alcohol, or buffer, PET serum bottles are more cost-effective, but they are not recommended for long-term freezing or in high-requirement sterile environments.
Are centrifuge bottles compatible with mainstream centrifuges?
Yes, the design is based on the rotor sizes of Thermo, Beckman, Eppendorf, Hitachi, etc., and has good compatibility. It is recommended to choose a specific bottle type according to the rotor type.
What are centrifuge bottle uses in laboratory?
- High-speed centrifugation and separation of samples.
- Collection and concentration of cells or microorganisms.
- Preliminary extraction of biomacromolecules (such as proteins, DNA).
- Wash and resuspend samples.
- Temporary storage and transfer of liquid samples.
- Cryogenic treatment or freezing of samples.
