Frequently Asked Questions
How to choose the appropriate filter syringe membrane material?
- PES syringe filter(polyethersulfone syringe filter): low protein adsorption, suitable for cell culture medium filtration.
- PTFE syringe filter: strong chemical resistance, suitable for organic solvent and strong acid and alkali filtration.
- PVDF syringe filter: low precipitation, suitable for HPLC, LC-MS sample processing.
- Nylon syringe filter: strong hydrophilicity, widely used in aqueous samples.
- MCE syringe filter: high flow rate, suitable for aqueous solution particle filtration.
Should I choose 0.22μm or 0.45μm filter membrane pore size?
Syringe filter 0.22 μm is used for sterilization-level filtration (such as removing bacteria); 0.45 micron syringe filter is suitable for clarification or pre-treatment in chromatographic analysis.
Is the syringe with filter suitable for automatic injection?
Yes, SDLABIO’s filter for syringe can be used in HPLC automatic sampling systems, with high filtration efficiency and complete particle retention.
How to use sterile syringe filter?
When using a needle filter, first select a filter that is suitable for the membrane material and pore size, then use a syringe to extract the sample to be filtered, and firmly install the needle filter at the outlet of the syringe. After confirming that the interface is Luer lock or Luer slip and is tightly connected, align the outlet of the filter with the receiving container (such as a centrifuge tube or reagent bottle), gently and evenly press the syringe piston to allow the liquid to pass through the filter membrane to complete the filtration. It should be discarded in time after use to avoid cross contamination. If the filtration is not smooth, it is recommended to replace a new filter.
What are low protein binding syringe filters?
The structure of low protein binding syringe filters is similar to that of ordinary filters, consisting of a plastic shell and a filter membrane. However, the filter membrane material (such as PES or PVDF) has been specially processed and has extremely low protein adsorption capacity, which can maximize the retention of high-value protein samples.
