Feature of Cell Culture Erlenmeyer Flask
- Made of transparent polystyrene (PS) material, with good light transmission and chemical stability.
- The inner surface of cell culture flasks is specially treated for better cell attachment and growth.
- Equipped with a sterile cover design, it has sealing and leak-proof functions, effectively preventing external contamination.
- Provide various capacity options(25cm2 cell culture flask; t175 cell culture flask; t225 cell culture flask, etc.) to meet the needs of cell culture at different scales.
For different use of cell cuture we also have petri dish for bacteria, petri dish for cell, erlenmeyer flask for suspension culture, media bottle, cell culture plate for multi-flux aspect cell experiments, cell culture bottle/flasks for mature cell passaging and expansion culture.
How many cells could a cell culture vessel contain?
| Culturing vessel | Recommended working volume | Cell number |
| t25 cell culture flask | 5-7.5ml | 2.5 X10^6 |
| t75 cell culture flask | 15-25ml | 7.5 X10^6 |
| t150 cell culture flask | 30-45ml | 1.5 X10^7 |
| t175 cell culture flask | 35-55ml | 1.75 X10^7 |
| t225 cell culture flask | 45-70ml | 2.25X10^7 |
FAQ of Cell Culture Flasks
How to choose culture flasks and culture dishes when culturing cells?
Culture flask : Suitable for long-term culture, passaging, and as seed cells, with a smaller bottle opening, cells are less likely to be contaminated.
Petri dish: Suitable for various experiments in temporary culture.
The difference is in the safety factor and the number of cultured cells. Experiments using cells as carriers or objects are better with petri dishes because the amount used is smaller to save cells. And petri dishes are more convenient for control experiments, but petri dishes with larger openings are more likely to be contaminated. So it should be operated more carefully.
Culture flasks are more suitable with tissue block primary culture or easily contaminated cell culture experiment, the growth of cells after the passaging can be based on personal preference. Cell culture flasks have a larger area, so when you need a large number of expanded cells culture flasks are ideal.
How to choose cell culture flasks or petri dishes should based on the way the cells are cultured, whether it is suspension culture or wall culture.
How do cells adhere to culture flasks?
1. Surface Treatment of the t75 flask cell culture: Culture flasks are typically treated to enhance cell attachment. They may be coated with substances like collagen, fibronectin, or synthetic molecules, which mimic the extracellular matrix (ECM) of tissues.
2. Integrin-Mediated Binding: Cells use integrin receptors to attach to ECM proteins on the surface. Integrins recognize and bind to specific ECM molecules, allowing the cell to anchor itself.
3. Formation of Focal Adhesions: Once integrins bind to the ECM, cells form focal adhesions, which are stable connections between the cell’s cytoskeleton and the flask surface. These adhesions strengthen the bond and provide signals for growth and morphology.
4. Culture Conditions: Proper temperature, pH, and ion concentration in the culture medium also support cell adhesion. Optimal conditions (e.g., 37°C for mammalian cells)enhance the attachment process.
