Feature of Amber Glass Jars

  • High-quality materials: Made of high-strength glass or HDPE, these containers are resistant to acid and alkali corrosion and suitable for storing a variety of soil and solution samples.

  • Excellent light protection: The amber bottle effectively blocks UV rays, making it suitable for storing photosensitive chemicals and organic pollutants.

  • Strong sealing: Equipped with a leak-proof screw cap or PTFE-lined gasket, these containers prevent sample volatilization, leakage, and cross-contamination.

  • Multiple sizes available: Common volumes include 15ml amber glass jar, 30ml amber glass jar, 60ml amber glass jars, 100ml amber glass jar, 250ml,  500ml and so on to meet diverse testing needs.

  • Autoclavable: The glass material supports high-pressure steam sterilization, making it suitable for both laboratory and field sampling.

How to use the amber soil bottle?

  • Pre-sampling Preparation

Select the appropriate size: Choose the appropriate volume based on your sampling requirements (e.g., 60 mL, 120ml, 200ml amber glass jar).

Sterilization and Cleaning: Sterilized bottles can be used directly; non-sterile bottles should first be rinsed with laboratory detergent and distilled water and sterilized by autoclaving or gamma irradiation.

  • On-site Sampling Procedures
  1. PPE: Wear sterile gloves and a mask to prevent contamination of the sample.
  2. Soil Collection: Use a sterile spoon to collect soil from the target area, avoiding contact with the outside world.
  3. Bottle Filling: Slowly add soil to the amber soil bottle, filling it to 80%-90% capacity, leaving a small amount of headroom to prevent compression and gas accumulation.
  4. Seal the Bottle Cap: Tighten the cap tightly, ensuring the seal fits snugly against the bottle opening to prevent evaporation or leakage.
  5. Labeling: Attach a label indicating the sampling location, time, sample number, and other information.
  • Sample Storage and Transportation

Short-term Storage: Store at room temperature or 4°C for short periods, away from light.

Long-term Storage: For photosensitive samples requiring extended storage, store in a cool, dark environment.

Transportation Requirements: Transport the sample in a collection bag or insulated container to protect the bottle from vibration and damage. For volatile or gas-sensitive substances, a gas sampling bag may be used for auxiliary testing.

  • Handling Precautions

Do not touch the bottle neck or cap lining directly with your hands to prevent contamination.

Use amber bottles for light-sensitive chemicals; transparent bottles can reduce sample stability.

Avoid opening the cap frequently after loading to prevent the introduction of air and cross-contamination.

Replace sample bottles immediately if damaged, aged, or with deformed seals.

  •  Post-Processing

Pre-testing: Soil samples can be placed on weighing paper or a weighing boat for aliquoting, weighing, and pre-processing in the laboratory.

Cleaning and Recycling: Glass bottles can be cleaned and sterilized for reuse; plastic bottles are recommended for single-use.

FAQ of Amber Container with Lid

Why use glass amber jar for soil instead of clear bottles?

Amber containers effectively block UV light, preventing degradation of photosensitive compounds and organic contaminants, ensuring sample stability and assay accuracy.

Glass amber jars for soil can be autoclaved, while HDPE bottles are recommended for sterilization using gamma irradiation or ethylene oxide.

Yes, the soil amber glass wide mouth jars are well sealed and can be used with liquid samples, but the compatibility with the liquid’s chemical properties must be considered.

We recommend using sample collection bags, sterile gloves, and sterile tools to ensure compliance with laboratory standards.

Glass bottles can be washed at high temperature and reused, but plastic bottles are recommended for single use to avoid cross-contamination.
