Feature of ELISA Plate

2. Binding capacity
High binding capacity
After surface treatment, the protein binding capacity is greatly enhanced, up to 300~400ng IgG/cm2, and the molecular weight of the main bound protein is >10kD. using this type of enzyme labeling plate can improve the sensitivity, and can relatively reduce the concentration and dosage of the encapsulated proteins, but the disadvantage is that it is easy to produce non-specific reaction. After antigen or antibody encapsulation, non-ionic detergents cannot effectively seal the site of unbound protein, and proteins need to be used as sealing agents.
Medium Binding
Passively binds to proteins via surface hydrophobic bonding and is suitable as a solid-phase carrier for large proteins with molecular weights >20kD, with a protein binding capacity of 200~300ng IgG/cm2. Due to its characteristic of binding only to large molecules, this type of plate is suitable for use as a solid-phase carrier for unpurified antibodies or antigens to minimize the potential for non-specific cross-reactivity. The plates can be used with inert proteins or non-ionic detergents as a sealing solution.

Difference between ELISA Plates and Cell Culture Plates
