Feature of Formalin Containers
- Made of polypropylene material. Designed to withstand the chemical nature of formalin. The lid of the cup is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) material. The non-slip design on the top and bottom ensures easy opening and closing when wearing gloves.
- Suitable for liquid sample collection, transportation and storage in harsh environments. Primarily used for storing and preserving tissue samples in formalin. Formalin prevents tissue degradation, making it essential in pathology and histology for maintaining sample integrity for analysis.
- Clear scale on three sides for easy observation.
- The surface of formalin containers is smooth, not easy to leave stains, reusable, economical and environmentally friendly.
- Multiple capacities: 20mL/40mL/60mL/90mL/120mL / 160mL/250mL/500mL /1000mL optional, to meet different needs from needle biopsy to gross specimens.
Application scenarios of formalin specimen cups
- Pathological fixation: After the tissue block is cut by the sampling knife, it is immediately placed in the formalin cup to prevent autolysis.
- Biological sample library: cooperate with biological sample bags to achieve short-term transportation at room temperature and long-term storage at low temperature.
- Teaching demonstration: Long-term storage of small animal organ specimens, combined with cell culture dishes for control observation.

FAQ of Formalin Cup
Can the formalin specimen containers be reused after high temperature sterilization?
It is recommended to use formalin jars once to avoid residual formaldehyde; if it is necessary to reuse it, it can be sterilized with high pressure steam at 121°C for 15 minutes, but it is necessary to confirm that the sealing ring is intact and not deformed.
What is the difference between a formalin cup and an ordinary sample cup?
Sdlabio’s formalin specimen jars are made of a more corrosion-resistant material, has a stronger sealing performance, is specially designed for fixing formaldehyde solution, and has a more complex cover structure (such as double-layer sealing and inner plug). It is not recommended to use ordinary urine cups or sample cups to hold formalin.
Will the formalin cup leak? Is it safe to transport?
Sdlabio’s formalin cup is equipped with a leak-proof seal and has passed the 95 kPa pressure leak test. Even if it is transported upside down, it can effectively prevent the fixative from leaking, meeting the safety requirements for medical sample transportation.
What operating specifications should be observed when using formalin storage container?
It is recommended to wear nitrile gloves and operate in a fume hood. The liquid surface must completely cover the tissue, tighten the lid and check whether there is liquid leakage, and affix the identification label.
