Peristaltic Pump
Peristaltic pump is a device that uses an elastic tube, also known as a hose pump or metering pump, to push liquid from one end to the other through periodic compression and relaxation of the tube. It is a common liquid transfer device in laboratories and has the characteristics of timed and quantitative transfer.

FAQ of Peristaltic Tube Pump
How do parastaltic pump work?
The working principle of a peristaltic metering pump: When the drive device is started, the compression element in the pump head begins to peristaltic motion. The peristaltic motion causes the compression element in the pump head to compress and relax periodically, thereby generating a series of peristaltic waves. These peristaltic waves propagate along the pipeline and push the liquid forward. The function of the valve is to control the flow direction of the liquid so that it can only flow in one direction.
How to use a peristaltic pump?
Based on the characters of the standard, the weighing apparatus required for the configuration of standard substance weighing is also very different.
Weighing paper: When the weighing volume is small, it is easily affected by buoyancy and static electricity, which may cause unstable weighing results. Suitable for solid weighing.
Weighing boat is suitable for small amount of solid and semi-solid weighing.
Pipette gun is a precision instrument with a certain range, suitable for liquid standards.
Micro syringes are suitable for micro liquid standards.
Different syringes are used for different raw material properties. For low boiling points and small surface tension of solvents, lock syringes should be used. Volatile liquids preferred incremental method of weighing.
How to calculate flow rate of peristaltic pump?
The flow calculation formula of the peristaltic pump is based on the working principle of its positive displacement pump, that is, a fixed flow output is generated for each revolution. By adjusting the speed, the required flow can be easily obtained. Generally, the flow calculation formula of the peristaltic pump can be expressed as:
Flow (L/min) = Peristaltic frequency (Hz) × Peristaltic amplitude (mm) × π × (Pipeline inner diameter (mm)/ 2)^2
Where π is pi. 1
In actual operation, the flow rate of the peristaltic pump at any speed can be measured, and then the flow rate at different speeds can be obtained by calculation. For example, using a 104KA/BT peristaltic pump and a 25# pump tube, when the speed is 300 rpm, the flow rate is 279ml/min. If a flow rate of 200ml/min is required, the required speed can be calculated:
First calculate the flow rate generated per revolution: 279ml/300 revolutions = 0.93ml/revolution
Then calculate the required speed: 200ml/0.93ml/revolution = 215.1 revolutions/minute. 2
In addition, in actual use, factors such as liquid viscosity, pressure, and use environment will affect the flow rate of the peristaltic pump. For example, high-viscosity liquids, too thin inner diameter of the pipeline, too long a pipeline, or too high a flow rate will result in a decrease in flow.
